Pair of Common Gallinules

7254 views Calvin Hanson June 24, 2024 South Stormont, Ontario, CA Date shot: June 21, 2024

A pair of “Common Gallinules” (a species known for its unique colouring characteristics) were photographed on a sunny June 21st just before a torrential downpour. Initially, they were swimming along the shoreline of the St. Lawrence River, but they decided to make their way into the bulrushes which is their preferred habitat. I was fortunate to capture this picture of them before they moved out of sight into the thicker bulrushes to take cover.
